This traces my ancestors and their history as settlers of the Connecticut colony. At this point in time,
May 16, 2005 the history is traced back to Stamford Connecticut in 1630 with the birth of my Great (x10) Grandfather, Stephen
Clawson.
Please note the listing of names to the right. These are all associated with my family, though certainly
not all in direct lineage. As an example, all my known living relatives are descendants of the Clawsons, Periments, and Ferris',
however my daughter and I are the only descendants of the Donnelly's. Interestingly, some names appear more than once, such
as Holmes. The example being that Mary Holmes was born in 1659 and was married to David Clawson, son of Stephen and Elizabeth
Clawson. Additionally the name Holmes was the maiden name of my Greatgrandmother on my mother's side who died in the 1920's.
The same is true with the names Ferris and Green although the Ferris' who appeared in the 1600's (founding Greenwich CT) may
possibly be ancestors of the Ferris' who re-enter the family in the 20th century.
As this is updated, no doubt other branches of the family and their ancestors will be added. If you are
a relative, known or unknown to me, a descendant or relative of anyone listed within these pages, or just someone with
more knowlege, please feel free to write to me, Lawrence McFarland-Groves, at PilgrimCT@aol.com
I welcome all comments, corrections, doccumentation and questions.
Please note this will be an ongoing living work.

Acknowledgments
The information you'll find on the following pages comes from many sources and my research began back in the mid 1980's.
The two people who really fired me up with wonderful leads and stories were my late Grandmother, Hester La Peer Weeks
McFarland (seen seated in the center of the photo above) and my late Uncle Mulley, (seen in the center of the back row) who
had an incredible way with words. His descriptive letters are a family treasure.
Adding to their initial help, along came my brother Ron (the young boy seated on the floor in the center) who grew up
in my grandparents home. The memories of life in the 40's and 50, and the people he came across would make a great mini-series.
Next to thank is my cousin Jeanne, who in her own sweet way, unexpectedly opened a door that brought us from the 1790's
in Stamford, which was for many years as far back as I could find, all the way back to 1630 in Stamford CT. Just ten years
after the Pilgrims landed. It was a short step on to Barbara K with her site "Early Settlers of Stamford"
Lastly I wish to that the rest of the family... who have updated me with their parent's birth and death dates, maiden
names, anniversaries, and their children's names and birthdates.
Thank you all. I've been reunited with cousins I had previously been told had "passed" and ones that had disappeared
for years, only to wind up in exotic countries and cities I never would have thought to look! I've also been in contact with
cousins (Virgil, Rodney and Leslie) whom I never even knew existed!
